Scope of Services
Individual Counseling for Adults
We provide individual, one-on-one counseling to adults 18 years and older. We serve both University of Utah students as well as members of the community. It is our hope to be able to provide affordable and accessible care to Utahns through both in-person and telehealth services.
The UCMHC supports clients with a full range of concerns, including relationship or family concerns, depressed mood, anxiety, stress, coping with physical or developmental disabilities or medical illnesses, academic difficulties, adjustment issues, life transitions, interpersonal conflict/social concerns, grief, sexual orientation/identity issues, career development, homelessness, under/unemployment, and poverty.
Prospective clients will first attend a phone consultation to determine fit for the clinic** (click here to learn more about what a training clinic is). Clients will then be assigned to an individual therapist who will meet with them for both an intake as well as subsequent individual sessions.
Individual therapy sessions range from 45-50 minutes long. Therapy is available to be conducted weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Frequency of meeting is determined by you and your clinician according to your presenting therapeutic concerns and goals.

It is important to note that the UCMHC operates on the academic calendar put forth by the University of Utah. The clinic is closed over all observed holidays and both winter and summer breaks.
At this time, we currently do not provide adult group or adult assessment services.
